The Peregrine Fund works to conserve wild populations of birds of prey around the world. As predators near the top of the food chain, birds of prey can indicate the health of an entire ecosystem. Protecting birds of prey protects the Earth’s diversity of life. The Peregrine Fund became involved in the conservation of birds of prey in 1970 when the Peregrine Falcon was threatened with extinction. The successful recovery that followed enabled us to focus our expertise and experience on other raptor species in decline. Our goals are to restore vulnerable species, increase knowledge about little-known birds of prey, conserve habitats, educate students and the public, and increase the capacity for conservation in the local communities where we work.
